It’s here! It’s here! My first ever published short story is out because the new issue is HERE!
Published this past week in the new Summer 2020 issue of Deep Magic, my short story “Standing with Centaurs” is now available to read, along with four other great short stories and two novel excerpts!
It’s really amazing to be able to say I’m a published author. It can be really hard to break into the short story industry – even if you’re a really good author, there are so many stories being submitted at all times that they can’t hope to publish all of them. I feel really blessed, and I want to continue writing and submitting, especially so I can build up a resume for when I want to publish my book!
Speaking of my book, uuuuuugh I cringed a little seeing that my last post about it (announcing the completion of Part 1 of Book 1) was in 2017. It’s a little disheartening to know I haven’t made much progress in three years. But I know that’s unhelpful thinking; I HAVE made progress, I’ve gotten a lot more clarity on how the book should actually progress to an endpoint, and I’ve written several more chapters I’m proud of. I CAN finish this thing, darnit!
In the meantime, I’ve also made some more edits to existing short stories – having a little time and space really does help with perspective! And I hope to finish one or two stories I started and abandoned that I have found really have promise. One involves a girl stuck on a bus because she’s phased just slightly out of normal reality. Ironically, I like what I have enough that I’m nervous I won’t be able to replicate the same level. XD; Headtrash is REAL, man. But I’m determined to get back into writing, while also balancing my MLP comic, which has a decent number of followers now! That’s also cool. =) See, Brain, we ARE moderately successful!
What are you all up to? How do you combat writing headtrash? Tell me in the comments, and I hope you have a fantastic week!
